Periodic contacts lead to an opportunity

March Companion Arnaud De Dobbeleer contacted a private investment group, specialized in logistics services and real estate, in the autumn of 2021 with a special opportunity: an industrial plot with an area of up to 86,122 m² located in the Panzerschipstraat in the port of Ghent.

From the periodic contacts that Arnaud maintained with the group, he understood that they were looking for a plot of at least six hectares in the port of Ghent. Not an easy search, because there has been an enormous scarcity of industrial land in recent years, especially in popular locations such as the port of Ghent.

In this case, it was also a land that could be sold in full ownership. This prompted the group to switch quickly and do everything in its power to purchase this land.

A professional approach for a fast and accurate deal

Immediately after the phone call, Arnaud forwarded the first information. Shortly thereafter, a site visit and the signing of an LOI with the owner of the land: a major project developer, with whom the March team already had good ties from previous collaborations.

Under Arnaud's guidance, both parties then reached a balanced agreement on the terms of sale. In order to reach this agreement, March organized the correct collection and provision of the necessary information. This was done in collaboration with, among others, the City of Ghent.

Continued follow-up from compromise to act

Partly thanks to the guidance of the March team, both parties reached a compromise with suspensive conditions within a month and a half of the first meeting.

During the period of the fulfillment of the suspensive conditions, the follow-up of the March team ensured that the deal process could continue smoothly, so that the parties could sign the notarial deed in the summer of 2022.

“Sustainable ties create the confidence to reach a smooth deal.” - Arnaud De Dobbeleer, March Companion
